Bedroom Area Rug: Placement Guide
Under the Bed (Most Popular)
Place the rug so it extends 18-24 inches beyond the bed on three sides (both sides and the foot). This gives you a soft landing when getting out of bed. For a queen bed, use an 8x10 rug.
Two-Thirds Under
The rug covers the bottom two-thirds of the bed, extending past the foot. This works when the rug is slightly too small to go fully under. The headboard end sits on bare floor.
Runner on Each Side
Two runners (2x6 or 2x8 feet) on either side of the bed provide soft landing without covering the entire floor. Budget-friendly and works with any bed size.
