How To Restore A Vintage Wooden Dining Table
There's something special about a vintage wooden dining table. Each scratch and ring tells a story, but when the damage goes beyond charming patina, it's time for restoration.
Start by stripping the old finish. Use a chemical stripper for painted surfaces or lacquered finishes. Sand progressively through grits: 80 for damage removal, 120 for smoothing, 180 for pre-finish preparation.
For finishing, tung oil provides a warm, natural look that's period-appropriate. Apply 3-4 coats, allowing 24 hours between each.
