TV Stand Sizing: Width, Height, and Depth
Width: Bigger Than Your TV
Your TV stand should be 3-6 inches wider than your TV on each side. For a 65-inch TV (about 57 inches wide), look for stands 63-69 inches wide.
Height: Eye Level When Seated
The TV center should be at eye level when seated, typically 42 inches from floor. With 18-inch seat height, your stand should be 24-30 inches tall.
Depth: Equipment Clearance
Standard stands are 15-20 inches deep. Measure your largest component and add 2 inches for cables. Soundbars, consoles, and streaming devices all need surface space.
Weight Capacity
A 65-inch TV weighs 45-65 lbs. Add 10-15 lbs for a soundbar. Most quality stands support 150-250 lbs.
Style Options
- Open shelves: best ventilation, visible components
- Closed cabinets: hide clutter, reduced airflow
- Corner stands: maximize small room space
