Desk Cable Management: 7 Clean Tips
1. Cable Tray Under the Desk
Mount a wire or mesh tray 2-3 inches below the desk edge. Route all cables through it before they drop to the floor.
2. Velcro Cable Ties
Bundle cables that run in the same direction. Velcro beats zip ties because you can add or remove cables without cutting.
3. Cable Sleeves
Neoprene or braided sleeves hide multiple cables in one clean tube. Best for the visible run from desk to monitor.
4. Grommets
Drill a 2-inch hole in the desk and insert a plastic grommet. Cables pass through cleanly without dangling off the edge.
5-7: Quick Wins
- Use short cables (1-2 feet) for desk devices to eliminate slack
- Label both ends of every cable for easy troubleshooting
- Mount the power strip under the desk, not on the floor
