Fire Pit Seating Layout Guide

Safety Distances

Keep seating at least 3 feet from the fire pit edge for wood-burning pits, 2 feet for gas models. This prevents heat discomfort and stray ember burns.

Circle Layout

Arrange chairs evenly around the pit for equal sight lines. Works best with 4-6 chairs of the same style.

Semi-Circle Layout

Place seating on one side, leaving the opposite side open for access and wind protection. Good for patios against a wall.

Seating Types

• Adirondack chairs: classic, deep-seated, weather-resistant
• Built-in stone benches: permanent, low maintenance, cold in winter
• Modular outdoor sofas: flexible, add cushions for comfort

Ground Material

Use gravel, flagstone, or pavers under the seating area. Grass and wood decks are fire hazards near wood-burning pits.
