Material Comparison

Polypropylene

Most popular. UV-resistant, quick-drying, mold-resistant. Hundreds of patterns. $2–$8/sq ft. Lifespan: 3–5 years.

Recycled Plastic (PET)

Waterproof, reversible. Rougher texture but improving. Eco-friendly. $3–$6/sq ft.

Natural Fiber

Avoid for exposed outdoor use—absorbs moisture. Suitable only for covered porches. $4–$10/sq ft.

Sizing

Follow the front-leg rule: all furniture front legs on the rug. For a 4-person set, use an 8×10 rug.

Care

Hose monthly, scrub with mild soap, hang to dry. Roll and store indoors during winter. Even weather-resistant rugs degrade in standing water and ice.
